Crafted from natural hollow Kapok fibres, it retains buoyancy when dubbed into split thread, enhancing the floatation of your dry flies. Half the thickness of superfine dubbing, it's often compared to 'instant moles fur' or 'moles fur in different colours'. Ideal for tiny dry flies and nymphs, it provides perfect definition without the bulk of traditional dubbing. Kapok, sourced from the tropics, is moisture-resistant, quick-drying, resilient, and buoyant, weighing only one-eighth as much as cotton. Historically used in life jackets and boats, it supports up to 30 times its own weight in water. Traditionally difficult to dye, Semperfli's innovative bulk dyeing process ensures consistent, natural, and earthy colors. Buoyancy is slowly lost over days, absorbing water gradually. Fibres average 1.8cm/0.7" with diameters of 30 to 36 micrometres, making it finer than superfine dubbing.
